Rosewood and Rhythm
International Jazz Trio

Musical Idiom: Rosewood and Rhythm is a multicultural experience of pulsating, Spanish and Brazilian influenced music, incorporating guitar, cello and percussion.

Most people associate the classical guitar and cello with classical music. Rosewood and Rhythm is totally unique, thinking outside. It is a bold, exotic adventure. This ensemble cuts loose with driving, eclectic improvisations set to Spanish rumbas and boleros, Brazilian sambas and choros, Spanish flamenco nuevo and Argentine tangos. The cello carries the hauntingly beautiful melodies with warmth and tenderness, while the percussion sets the music on fire with bongos and other musical toys.

Leader, Jeff Ausfahl is strongly committed to educational programs that immerse young audiences in artistic yet entertaining, cultural experiences. He has been giving workshop concerts in the New York City public schools Music Outreach program for over 20 years. Older audiences enjoy his refreshing sense of humor in his lyrics. Jeff sings in English and Spanish.

Instrumentation: 3 musicians
1. Guitar, vocals
2. Cello
3. Percussion

Set-up time and space requirements are very minimal since this ensemble is relatively small and acoustically oriented.

Home Base: All members of Rosewood and Rhythm reside in the New York City area, and are available to travel and give master classes.

Mr. Ausfahl is a sinewy, genial man with longish hair and sharply chiseled features. The audience is highly appreciative. Mr. Ausfahl did a solo, and a woman stopped by to coo: He can just do that all night long.
